How to retell the story of a painting through the making of a performance in a specific time and space?
O BARDO (THE BARD) is a theatrical performance conceived to intervene in the space of a museum, an art gallery or other space that is not mandatorily a scenic space. It starts with the idea of doing a remake of the painting “Y Bardd” (1774) by Thomas Jones, inspired by the massacre of welsh bards – poets, musicians and troubadours – during the english invasion of Wales territory, used as a strategy to extinguish the cultural legacy of this region.
In this performance, the last welsh bard – the central figure of the painting – comes to a space to tell his personal story to the spectator before committing his last act.
Como recontar a história de um quadro através de uma performance, num espaço e tempo específicos?
O BARDO é uma performance teatral pensada para intervir em espaços não convencionais, como uma galeria de arte, um museu ou um outro lugar que não tenha sido obrigatoriamente concebido como um espaço cénico. Parte da ideia de fazer um remake da história de um quadro de Thomas Jones (Y Bardd, 1774) que descreve a perseguição dos bardos galeses durante a invasão inglesa do País de Gales.
Neste espectáculo o último bardo galês – figura central representada no quadro – surge num espaço para contar a sua história ao espectador no momento antes de cometer o seu último acto.
